New Horizons boasts many characters that can visit your town on any given day, and sometimes it’s difficult to know where and when they can appear. Consult the chart below for more info, or keep scrolling for notes on individual characters.
Note that most Special Characters cannot appear on the same day, nor will they appear on consecutive days (with few exceptions). However, you should eventually have at least one Special character visiting your island per day – so if you don’t see someone in the town plaza, then the character for that day is likely someone who wanders the island.
Certain Special characters can appear on the same day if they do not interfere with each other – like a vendor selling items during the day in the plaza, and a wandering character that only appears at night

Gulliver is a seagull that can wash up on the shore of your island after a shipwreck out at sea. You’ll have to talk to him a lot to wake him up. He’ll send you a letter the next day as a thank you that comes with a gift.
Gullivarrr is seemingly Gulliver, but dressed up as a pirate. Like his sailor counterpart, Gullvarrr will randomly wash up on your island. Gullivarrr will not appear until you buy a Wet Suit. Helping Gullivarrr requires diving, and he’ll give pirate-themed items and decorations.

Saharah is a camel that wanders on a random day of the week. She’ll sell you rugs, Mysterious Wallpaper, and Mysterious flooring. Buying rugs from her earns you tickets which can be redeemed for either her Mysterious Wallpaper or Mysterious Flooring. These items are interesting – you may get wallpaper that looks like a stormy sky, or flooring that looks like a stream!
First debuting as a special character that can join your island permanently, Mabel is one of the two Able Sisters that you’ll meet after helping to build Nook’s Cranny on your island. After seeing her visit the shop, she’ll start appearing in your town plaza once a week, and on Saturdays and Sundays, and will sell a few pieces of clothing from her rotating stock. Spend enough money on her stall, and she’ll even think about opening up a permanent shop!

Daisy Mae is a pig that comes to the island only on Sundays to sell turnips. These turnips can then be sold back to Timmy and Tommy for a (possibly) high price. She will only appear after Nook’s Cranny is built.
As of the 1.2.0 Nature Day Update, Leif can begin appearing on your island – if you’ve helped to build Nook’s Cranny. He’ll set up shop in the town plaza from 5AM-10PM and sell shrub starts that you can plant, as well as flower seeds that Timmy and Tommy won’t stock. He’ll even offer to buy clumps of weeds from you at a better rate.

Celeste is Blathers’ sister who you may see wandering your town at night after you’ve helped build up the Museum.
She likes to appear on clear nights, but will always show up if there’s a meteor shower scheduled for the evening. She’ll teach you how to wish upon a shooting star, and give a DIY Recipe each visit for different astral objects – including magic costume-changing wands, and astrological or space-themed items.
Kicks (Shoe Shop)

Kicks is a skunk that will set up in the town square occasionally after Able Sisters Shop is built. As his name implies, he sells shoes, socks, and types of footwear – as well as backpacks.
Like Mabel before him, he’ll only set up during the day and will close at night, but will bring a new selection of shoes and bags that the Able Sisters don’t sell each time he visits.
Label is an independent designer of label “Labelle” who won’t show up in the town square until after the Able Sisters Shop is built. A now humbled fashion designer, she’s looking for new trends and will ask you to help her model different themes.
You can take up her request to try and find the perfect outfit for the theme she’s thinking of, and she’ll reward you with items from her signature line – plus tickets to redeem at the Able Sisters if your ensemble is good enough.

Flick is a chameleon that you can sometimes find roaming around your island, looking to buy bugs. For those needing some extra Bells, consider saving up your bug collection as Flick will pay 1.5x more for your bugs than Timmy and Tommy.
When trading Flick three of the same bugs, he will also offer to sculpt a model of the bugs that you had just traded him. That’s not all, as Flick also hosts the annual Bug-Offevents, which is based around catching as many bugs as possible during a set time limit.

C.J. is a beaver that you can sometimes find roaming around your island, mostly by the water, looking to buy fish. For those needing some extra Bells, consider saving up your fish collection as much like Flick, C.J. will pay 150% more for your bugs than Timmy and Tommy.

When trading C.J. three of the same fish, he will also offer to commission Flick to sculpt a model of the fish that you had just traded him. That’s not all though, as C.J. also hosts the annual Fishing Tourney Event, which is based around catching as many fish as possible during a set time limit.

The famous traveling musician, K.K. Slider is something of a legend in the Animal Crossing universe, and getting him to seek out your humble town won’t be easy. You’ll need to build up your island from a deserted rock to a bustling community to attract his attention, and help decorate your town as best you can.
Once he appears, you can sit down with him every Saturday night to listen to him play his greatest hits – and requesting a favorite will net you a copy of the song to play in your music players.
Note that if other events are planned for a Saturday, he may appear a day earlier to compensate.

“Jolly Redd” can start appearing in your town as of the 1.2.0 Update, but only if you’ve enticed him through certain means. You’ll need to donate up to 60 items to the museum before Blathers considering taking in works of art – which is where Redd will make himself known by selling you famous paintings and sculptures.
Unfortunately, he won’t always sell you the genuine article, and you’ll need to have your wits about you when browsing his selection on his boat that can appear on the north beach on your island on a random day.
Pascal is an otter you’ll find out in the sea whenever you find a Scallop. He was added in the 1.3.0 update. Pascal will trade a Scallop with you once a day in exchange for Mermaid DIY Recipes, Pearls, and more.
