New York City is back for the holidays, and we can hardly wait to enjoy our favorite Christmastime traditions like browsing the festive window displays along Fifth Avenue, ice skating in Bryant Park, and finally getting back to the theater. But this year, we can’t wait to add a new activity to our holiday schedules: spending a leisurely afternoon at The Carlyle shopping the Houses & Parties pop-up.

Just beyond the iconic Bemelman’s Bar—and in the spirit of Ludwig Bemelman’s enchanting Central Park murals—Rebecca Gardner’s online entertaining essentials destination is popping up from December 2-12. Each day from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., fans of the fabulous party planner and her eccentric yet sophisticated e-commerce shop will get to experience the whimsical wonders of Houses & Parties in real life with The Carlyle as an idyllic backdrop.

Shoppers will be enthralled by the childlike wonderland Gardner’s team has created within the walls of this iconic hotel and its collection of vintage silver, custom glassware, artisanal ornaments, bespoke party hats, and miles of table linens. Plus, every piece is designed exclusively for Houses & Parties and is exclusively produced for the shop.

End your shopping spree next door at the legendary Bemelmens Bar and listen to the brilliant Earl Rose on the grand piano.

Pop-up shoppers will also have first dibs on the shop’s two custom candles: “Inside Mother’s Leiber” and “Smudged Faces & Kid Gloves,” the latter of which draws inspiration from The Carlyle itself, with Gardner’s vision of “demure debutantes wresting taffeta under the table at an après ball soiree at Bemelmans Bar and notes reminiscent of a burning boutonnière of frosted cedar, giddy accords of piano lacquer, icy martinis, and whispers over silk lampshades at the iconic hotel.” You can’t miss out on a scent with that type of description. And what better way to wind down an afternoon of shopping and strategizing for your holiday cocktail party or feast than with a martini at Belmelmens Bar to the sounds of Earl Rose’s piano? We have a feeling we will be back everyday during this pop-up just to be able to experience Gardner’s holiday wonderland and have the excuse for enjoying a celebratory cocktail in one of the world’s most iconic bars at the end of the day. And if you can’t make it to New York next month, be sure to visit HousesandParties.com to discover a curated collection from the pop-up at The Carlyle.
