The Captiva Memorial Library, at 11560 Chapin Lane, Captiva, is offering the following free programming:
CHILDREN PROGRAMS
– Oct. 26-30: Paper Plate Candy Corn
(daily during operating hours)
Make bright candy corn decorations from yellow and orange tissue paper and paper plates. Visit the book display in the children’s room and check out Halloween books.
– Nov. 2-6: Happy Harvest Time!
(daily during operating hours)
Browse the books available to check out on the happy harvest book display and complete activity sheets. Make a fun paper bag scarecrow. Craft available as supplies last.
TEEN PROGRAMS
– Oct. 29-30: Artistic Leaf Decorations
Decorate fall leaves with metallic markers and then cover them with Mod Podge. Available while supplies last.
The library is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about a program or to register, call the library at 239-533-4890.

ADULT PROGRAMS
– Oct. 27: Online Book Discussion for Adults at 10 a.m.
Calling all readers! A live virtual book discussion for adults. There is no assigned title. Instead, participants take turns sharing about the latest books that they have read. Advance registration required before Oct. 27 at 10 a.m.
– Oct. 27: Online Spanish Conversation Club at 6 p.m.
Are you ready to take your Spanish-speaking skills to the next level? Improve your fluency by chatting with adults online. Practice speaking Spanish with others on a variety of topics, including current events and everyday situations. Intermediate to advanced Spanish-speaking skills are recommended in order to get the most out of the session. Presented by the School District of Lee County’s Adult & Career Education Program. Advance registration required before Oct. 27 at 6 p.m.
– Oct. 27: Online Murder at the Library Book Club Author Presentation at 7 p.m.
In partnership with Sourcebooks, Baker & Taylor will host an exclusive live virtual book club event featuring author Katie Lattari discussing her new novel, “Dark Things I Adore.” The book is this month’s “Murder at the Library” book club selection and is available in print throughout the library system or electronically as an ebook through Hoopla. Advance registration required.
